My 35 shirt challenge is coming up green
Cheryl collected 35 assorted cotton shirts for me to ecoprint. Cotton is a bit finicky about latching on to a good print and most often requires a pre-mordant, which means an extra step in the process. I much prefer processing silk however who doesn't love a cotton teeshirt. 35 shirts is a lot of leaves so I choose for my main palette the readily abundant sassafras, wild grape vines/leaves, locust tree leaves, peonies, prunus and willow adding a few maple, redbud and cotinus in there too. Iron and black walnut processing bath water. I feel they look very spring green assuming they will change a bit over time to more yellow and muted greens.
